Creating Futures

Scenario Concepts Workshop

A workshop was held to learn about current scenario work undertaken in New Zealand.

What are scenarios? There are no facts about the future; we can't predict the future. However, we can think about the future and get prepared. Scenarios are increasingly being used as a way to explore how the future may look and what this may mean to us now. The FRST project, Choosing Regional Futures, will look at our regional community outcomes and use scenarios to guide the development of models for integrated planning and decision-making. Draft scenarios will now be developed by November 2006. They will then be tested and further refined through discussion with a variety of stakeholder and interest groups.

The following are presentations and other resource material from the workshop:

Scenario Decision Making presentation by Terry Parminter (AgResearch)

Auckland City's Foresight Initiatives presentation by Steve Vaughan (Auckland CC)
